Psalmody (praying the psalms) is one of the traditional roads to the experience of God. So we say the psalms with Jesus, all of them, in the long quiet years of manual work, in the solitary days in the desert on Tabor and in Galilee, walking on the sea and preaching on the hillside, with him on his way to the Holy City, in his struggles with the world, with law and authority, with the establishment, with him in his betrayal, his suffering and death . . . in his glorious rising, until he comes again at the end. Praying with him in the wilderness of this world, unafraid, rooted in faith and in his love.
